1. Information Stored by Threshold
Threshold does not require you to create an account and does not directly collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or other personal information.
Information created while using the app may be stored locally on your device so that Threshold can provide its features. This may include:
- Tarot draws and reading history
- Daily draw information
- Cards explored in the guide
- Statistics and progress
- Gem balance and related app activity
- App preferences and settings
This information is not transmitted to us by Threshold's core functionality.
If you uninstall the app or clear its application data, locally stored information may be deleted by your device's operating system.
2. Advertising
Threshold displays advertisements using Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service provided by Google.
Although Threshold itself does not require personal information from you, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and process certain information from your device and your interactions with advertisements and the app.
Depending on Google's current SDK configuration and applicable settings, this may include:
- IP address
- Advertising or other device identifiers
- Information about interactions with the app and advertisements
- Diagnostic and performance information
- Information used to provide, measure, maintain, and protect advertising services
- General location information that may be inferred from an IP address
Google may use this information for purposes including advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, and improving its advertising services.
Threshold does not control information collected by Google through its advertising services. Google's processing of such information is governed by Google's own privacy policies and terms.
3. Rewarded Advertisements
Threshold may offer rewarded advertisements that allow you to receive in-app gems after attempting to view a rewarded advertisement.
Threshold does not require or store your personal information as a condition of receiving these rewards.
The advertising provider may process information associated with the advertisement request and viewing of the advertisement as described in this policy.
4. Third-Party Advertising Services & Google Policies
Threshold uses Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google LLC (or Google Ireland Limited for users in the EEA), for in-app advertisement delivery, analytics, security, and fraud prevention.

- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): When you consent through the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog presented upon launching the app, Google processes device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized advertisements.
- Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): Essential ad delivery, fraud prevention, bot detection, frequency capping, and ad measurement are processed based on legitimate business and operational interests.
Your Rights Under GDPR:
You have the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of personal data, the right to restrict processing, the right to object to processing, and the right to data portability.
Right to Withdraw Consent:
You have the absolute right to withdraw or modify your consent choices at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal. You can easily update your choices directly in the app at any time via Settings → Privacy & Ad Policy → Privacy Settings.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory Data Protection Authority (DPA) in your EU Member State or the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK.
6. United States State Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA & Other States)
Residents of California (under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, "CCPA/CPRA"), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, and other applicable states have specific privacy rights regarding personal information.
Categories of Personal Information Processed:
- Identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID, IP address)
- Internet and mobile network activity (interactions with ads and ad requests)
- Inferred coarse location (derived from IP address at city/country level)
Notice of Right to Opt-Out of Sale / Sharing / Targeted Advertising:
Threshold does not sell personal information in exchange for money. However, third-party advertising networks such as Google AdMob may process online identifiers and usage data across different apps to deliver cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted advertising). Under certain state laws, this activity may be classified as a "sale", "share", or "targeted advertising".
You have the right to opt out of targeted advertising and the sharing of your data for cross-context behavioral advertising at any time through our in-app privacy controls or mobile device settings.
Non-Discrimination:
We will never discriminate against you, charge different fees, or deny app functionality for exercising your privacy rights.
7. In-App Consent Management & Your Privacy Choices
In-App Privacy Settings (Google UMP):
Threshold includes a dedicated consent management interface powered by the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can review, update, or revoke your consent preferences at any time by navigating to:

If your region is subject to consent requirements (such as the EEA, UK, or relevant US states), this option will reopen the official privacy options dialog to adjust your preferences immediately.
Mobile Device Controls:
You can also adjust system-level advertising controls directly in your Android settings:
- Open your device Settings
- Navigate to Security & Privacy (or Google) → Privacy → Ads
- Select Delete advertising ID or Reset advertising ID
8. Internet Connection & Offline Functionality
The core tarot functionality of Threshold—including tarot draws, card interpretations, encyclopedia guides, and reading history—is engineered to operate completely offline.
An internet connection is required solely for third-party advertising services (loading rewarded and banner ads) and retrieving regulatory consent forms. If you are offline or ad inventory is unavailable, all core tarot features remain accessible.
9. Data Security & Storage
Because Threshold's reading history, daily cards, and gem balance are stored locally on your device using secure local SQLite and storage APIs, their security is tied directly to your device's security measures.
Threshold does not maintain remote user databases or transmit your reading logs to external servers. If you uninstall the application or clear application data via your device settings, your local reading history will be deleted.
10. Children's Privacy
Threshold is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The Google Mobile Ads SDK in Threshold is configured with teenager/general audience content ratings.
